random water drops. :D

so. i was [veryyy] upset yesterday... because we thought we were going to have to wipe our mac's hardrive. with all 4 year's worth of my pictures on it. i had never really realized how much losing that many pictures would mean to me... i don't really record my life in a diary; i record it in photos. so to lose that many memories and all of my photos was sort of heartbreaking.
BUT.
thankfully my amazing Dad saved the desktop from death and all of my pictures. :) so now i've learned a lesson and am going to back them up in 3 different places.

these are 2 photos of the hasta plants that Dad planted by our front porch. i had been planning to upload these and then was devastated when i thought they would be gone forever cuz i think these are kinda cool pictures. :D

i really like the... depth perception (?)... of my camera and the spiral that it made in this one. :D

this one reminds me of a giant caterpillar. :D

el sol

i'm convinced that the sun is a natural antidepressant... i love it. sunshine is one of the best parts of spring/summer, and i love how it changes the subjects of my pictures. so.. i take a lot of pictures of it. [haha. although this is sometimes bad for my eyesight.]

honey bee

i wanted to capture our entire backyard in photographs since everything is blooming. i was photographing this redbud, and my little sister pointed out the honey bee. even tho i'm sort of severely allergic to bees... i think this one is cute. :D

i love how it's lit up from behind by the sun.:)

spring evening + stars (long exposure)

last night i learned how to take long exposure star pictures. i went into the backyard, set the camera on a stool, and set it for 30" shutter speed (shutter is open for 30 seconds letting all the light possible) and F3.5.

it wasn't this bright out, but since the camera let in so much light, it made the trees an interesting color and the stars really bright.

i really like how the long exposure makes the stars bright, as well as the grass/trees.

photo essay: spring

photo essay: spring
-lenten roses from the garden-

saturday morning

i took my camera outside two saturdays ago to try it out. i LOVE the quality of the pictures from this camera. :D

i crossed over to muscrat island again and caught the horses drinking from the creek... but then i scared them w/ the shutter noise.

on muscrat island. the sun has rays. my old camera never gave the sun rays like that... :D

the train track behind our house. i was lying on the track for this picture. :P ha.

heh. crossing back over from muscrat island i fell in the marsh... up to my waist. it was 30+ degrees outside, but the pictures were worth it and my camera was fine.
i can't say the same for my boots. :P

pearls & roses

so... i haven't posted for a month- but i haven't stopped taking pictures. so i have a lot of catching up to do! the biggest news is that i got a new camera for my birthday: a canon digital rebel XSi. :D i tried it out the day after i got it using the roses and pearls that i got for my b-day as well, and i LOVED how the pictures turned out. :D

favorite. ^^
i love how the foreground is so sharp- how the pearl is so in focus compared to the window.
